NED™ E-Series
Gamma Scientific’s NED™ E-Series systems are the most advanced and comprehensive instruments available for characterizing near-eye displays (AR, VR, MR, and HUD). Designed to replicate the complexity of human vision, the E-Series delivers high-resolution, zero-distortion, wide field-of-view spatial and spectral data, conforming to the latest IEC, IDMS, and ISO standards.
Powered by our proprietary GSNEDTest™ software suite, each system supports over 20 standardized tests, real-time visualization, automatic reporting, and programmable SDK interfaces—making it the ideal platform for R&D, design validation, and advanced metrology.
CONFIGURATIONS
The NED™ E-Series is modular and available in three configurations to match specific performance needs and workflow requirements:

NED E-SERIES ROBOTIC EYE™ PLATFORM
Gamma’s flagship setup features a 6-axis industrial robotic arm to replicate human eye motion, interpupillary distance (IPD), and eye alignment. Enables full characterization of the display from multiple eye positions, with true motion correlation and precise 3D eye-box mapping using both luminance and contrast metrics.
- Field of view: up to 160° (H) × ±44° (V)
- Includes a patented pupil and eye rotation system
- Ideal for optical design validation and spatial performance testing
NED E-SERIES RX
AR/VR devices must accommodate the 75% of adults who wear vision-correcting glasses to reach true mass adoption. Gamma Scientific’s NED Rx is the only solution that tests AR/VR displays under vision-corrected conditions, using a patented optics module to simulate real-world prescriptions. It ensures visual comfort, accurate interactivity, and consistent display fidelity across both augmented and see-through modes—because a seamless AR/VR experience starts with clear vision.
- Diopter range: -10D to +10D
- Validates AR/MR experiences for users with refractive errors
- Useful for testing device compliance with human visual correction standards

NED E-SERIES GAZECAM™ MODULAR CAMERA
A high-speed, standalone configuration using a fixed camera with high spatial resolution. The GazeCam™ characterizes displays as the human eye perceives them. Optimized for active-gaze testing, it captures critical visual performance directly impacting user experience.
- Compact, production-ready design
- Ideal for QA or production line integration
- Retains compatibility with GSNEDTest™ software features

- The world’s first near-eye display solution with true eye motion correlation (using 6-axis industrial robot) for the highest precision full characterization of AR, VR, MR and Heads-Up Displays.
- The only solution to offer both eye rotation and pupil rotation mechanisms that matches how the human eye moves through the qualified viewing space and sees different parts of the virtual image; extremely valuable to manufacturers for optical design validation of their near-eye displays.
- The only solution capable of high resolution and precision design eye-box mapping by both luminance and MTF/Contrast at different eye reliefs.
- The only solution delivering high resolution of 250pixels/degree over a wide field of view of 160° (H) and upto +/-44°(V). This is even higher than visual acuity (VA) of humans.
- The only solution offering AutoFocus with high precision; large focus range of -8D to +8D. Active field of view 16°(H) x 12°(V).
- Patented optical design (US Patent No. 10,257,509) with a built-in autocollimator and LED spot projector for alignment to the optical axis.
- Small entrance pupil, 2mm to 5mm, for positioning within the qualified viewing space (QVS) of the Device Under Test for valid luminance measurements.
- Lightweight and compact telescope with a small measurement head. Easily fits within the commercial near-eye displays.
- The only solution with true color measurements using a high color accuracy, high sensitivity and high dynamic range integrated spectroradiometer.
- The only solution with 1deg and 2deg foveal region correlation for CIE color and luminance measurements.
